22-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide

22-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide
A 22-year old girl, Felicia Ndon, has allegedly committed suicide by drinking a highly potent pesticide called Gamalin 20.
According to sources, this  followed a misunderstanding with her aunt, Agnes, with whom she was living in Ikom, central Cross River State, Nigeria.
A large crowd gathered on Saturday afternoon at the scene of the incident. The girl, who wrote the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in May 2012 at the Government Secondary School, Ikom, was a long standing maid to Agnes, the younger sister to the father of the deceased.
“She had been living with me since she was three when her father died and I have been treating her as my daughter,” Agnes said  while sobbing.
The girl was said to have taken offence when her aunt scolded her for coming back late from the market.
“I did not do anything to her. I just threw an empty water jog on her for staying too long in the market and she ran away,” Agnes further told our correspondent. Agnes said she thought Felicia had gone to her restaurant near the Ikom Motor park where she assisted her in serving food “but she went straight and bought  Gamalin 20 and went to the house and drank it.”
She said it was when the girl failed to come back after about an hour that she sent one of the girls staying with her to look for her and when she got home “she saw Felicia lying on the floor and called me and I rushed home and immediately took her to the hospital but it was too late.”
The body of the dead girl, which was wrapped in a native mat and put in the boot of a golf car with her legs dangling outside, was taken to Obubra their birthplace for burial. Asked if she reported the incident to the police before taking the girl for burial in the village, she retorted in pidgin English: “Police go wake am up?” (meaning will the police wake her up?).
One of the sympathizers who was also shedding tears profusely said the lady was always kind to her niece and wondered why the girl had to take her own life for whatever reason.

What looked like the Aluu four incident occurred on Friday, as a middle-aged man was set ablaze by irate youth at workers’ village, along Kilema Doma road in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while reportedly trying to snatch a motorcycle from a motorcyclist.

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Nasarawa State command, Mr Cornelius Ocholi who confirmed the incident disclosed that seven persons had since been apprehended in connection with the wicked act.

Ocholi confirmed that the policemen attached to the state police launched a manhunt on them when the news broke out that a man alleged to be a motorcycle thief was being lynched, noting that before the officers could get to the scene, the angry mobs had killed the man and flee.

“Effort made by the police to get the names of the accomplice proved abortive as nobody could be found at the scene of the event, where the suspected thief was set ablaze,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Mr Abayomi Akaremale, has cautioned members of the public against jungle justice.

The police boss added that what the mob did was against the law, noting that it was wrong for them to take law into their hands for not informing the police earlier.

However, an eye witness claimed that the suspected thief died while receiving medical attention at Araf Dalhatu Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

Indian tea workers burn their boss and his wife to death

Tea plantation workers torched the home of their boss, killing both him and his wife, following a labour dispute in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, officials said on Thursday.

Around 1,000 workers at the privately-owned M.K.B. Tea Estate attacked the plantation owner's bungalow on Wednesday and set it on fire in violence blamed on festering labour unrest in the tea-growing region, police said.

Mridul Bhattacharya and his wife Rita were burned to death as workers armed with home-made weapons prevented police from rescuing them, they said.

"The body of the planter was charred beyond recognition and reduced to ashes while the body of the wife was found lying in the kitchen," local police officer A. Das told AFP by telephone.

The grisly attack occurred in Assam's tea-growing Tinsukia district, some 500 kilometres (310 miles) east of the state's main city of Guwahati.

The Indian Express newspaper said the violence was sparked by orders served by Bhattacharya on 10 estate workers to vacate their quarters and the detention of three employees by police over unspecified disputes.

Plantation workers were seen on local television channels admitting to having carried out an attack.
"We all came and attacked the bungalow and set it on fire. They deserved to be killed as the planter has exploited us for a long time and tortured us for petty things," a tea estate female worker said on News Live local TV channel.

The station did not identify the woman.

Assam produces around 55 percent of India's annual tea production, which stood at 988.32 million kilograms (2,174.3 million pounds) last year, and the state is home to more than 800 tea estates.

Ghost Of Grandfather Appears At Granddaughter Christening Ceremony (PHOTOS)

A grandmother was left astonished after a photo posted on Facebook from her granddaughter’s christening appeared to show the ghost of her late husband.
    photo
When Heather Sewell, 50, first saw the picture she immediately spotted the apparition, bearing a striking resemblance to her late husband Terry.
The black and white face can be seen above the church font hovering over baby Mia-Bella Kennett and the rest of the family.
The bizarre image was caught on camera at St Martin’s Church, Canterbury, Kent by Mrs Sewell's son Jamie, 29, on his mobile phone.
It was only when the grandmother-of-two was looking through the photos online later that she spotted the familiar face beside the family.
Outline: Mrs Sewell said she was shocked when she noticed the face in the picture taken during her granddaughter's christening Mrs Sewell, from Petham, Kent, said she could not believe the likeness to her late husband.
Terry Sewell, who worked as a labourer, died 17 years ago after committing suicide aged 41.
Mrs Sewell, who works as a taxi driver, said it was 'upsetting' to see her husband's face.
She said: ' I tried to convince myself
that it was not Terry - but it is so convincing that I believe it is.
'Terry had a long face and so does the ghost and it has the same hair style as Terry had.

'The ghost is also the same height as Terry was - about 5ft 8in.

'I am quite a superstitious person, but I am not over-the-top.

'I do believe there is something out there - there are too many things in the world we cannot explain.'
She added: 'I was so shocked when I saw it, as we all were.
'It looks very much like Terry. I know there has been no photo trickery so it is all very spooky and perhaps not what you want to see at a christening.
'I was in the pub afterwards when I first saw the Facebook page and everyone was stunned because it’s so clear.'
St Martin’s is the oldest church in the country that is still in use for religious services, but a ghostly encounter has never been reported previously at the church.
Heather's daughter Gemma Sewell, 27, and her partner Jamie were joined by their older daughter Jaiden, 5, and two sets of godparents for Mia-Bella Kennett's Christening.

Traffic Police Officers Fight Over Bribe Money In Abuja

    photo
It was a Theatre of absurd at the Ademola Adetokumbo area of Wuse 2, Abuja on Thursday when two Traffic Police Officers on duty were engaged in a serious brawl, scaring motorists, as many were forced to make a U-Turn in order to avoid having their wheel screen smashed by the two angry police officers.
The Officers who were simply identified as Mr. Ishaku, a police Constable and Mr. Ewema Pesters were on duty in a busy junction located immediately after City Park with other Traffic Police Officers where they got engaged in a heavy fight.
The officers who were determined to kill each other were seen hitting themselves with sticks and stones, while their fellow police officers stood afar to watch what our reporter had termed “Bizarre Theatre.”
The fight, which lasted for over 30 minutes, attracted some mobile police officers to the scene, who were able to bring it to a temporary halt, even as the duo continued to hit each other intermittently in the pool of their own blood.
The mobile Police officer who was at the scene had expressed his anger over the wild attitude of the two Policemen, and immediately called the Zone 3 Police station, asking for more policemen at the scene of the incident in order to pick up the two officers.
Despite the questions from our correspondents and others within the area on what could have led to such shameful fight, the two officers remained mummed, but continued to attack each other while the mobile Policeman remained in their midst, holding firm unto their torn uniforms.
However, one of the officers at the scene of the incident had squealed that the officers who were on morning duty had earlier disagreed over the sharing of money made from traffic defaulters after they had closed from work. This, he said led to intense argument, that eventually led to the fight.
Before our correspondent left the scene, the two men had been taken away by some officers mobilized to the scene of the fight.

I Cannot Wait To Take On Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid- Ferguson

Ferguson will renew his old rivalry with Mourinho, and Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford to face his former team-mates.
    photo
“It’s the tie of the round,” Ferguson told United’s official website. “It’s a great opportunity for our fans to see Cristiano again and also for me to meet up with Jose again – I’ll need to order some good wine!”
United defender Rio Ferdinand played in the 2003 match against Real, and he tweeted: “Oh yes, Madrid!! What a great couple a games that’ll be!! @Cristiano see u soon bro!!”
Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno is also excited by the draw.
“I think the fans will be very very happy with the tie, it’s very attractive. It’s going to be a thrilling experience for everybody,” he told Sky Sports.
“Manchester United are a great team and a great organisation, one of the most prestigious in the world. So we are very happy. We have a very good relationship with them.
“We know it is going to be difficult, a very even tie. They are a very strong team with great leadership – Sir Alex Ferguson has been there for 25 years. He’s a fantastic manager and he knows how to make the most out of his players.
“So we know it’s going to be very, very difficult. But we are Real Madrid – we will do our best and rise to the occasion.”
Real’s Ronaldo will face his former team and Butragueno said: “It’s going to be a special game for him. He’s a great professional and he will do his best for Real Madrid. So yes, going back there, it will be very special for him.
“From the players’ perspective, they will think ‘I want to show what I’m made of’. It is going to be important for us to get our injured players back and I hope we will be at our best for the first leg. In football, you never know.”
Manchester United club secretary John Alexander said the meeting of the two European aristocrats is the pick of the ties.
“It is the tie that everybody wanted to see, but nobody wanted to see – they wanted to save it for later in the competition,” he said.
“Out of several stand-out ties, I think this is the one, with the traditions of the two clubs in this competition and their past history.”

SHOCKING STORY!!! "I Don’t Want To Be Role Model" -World’s Thinnest Woman

Weighing just FOUR stone, extreme anorexic Valeria Levitin is thought to be the thinnest woman in the world. Her malnourished figure and matchstick-thin thighs should serve as a stark warning about the dangers of eating disorders.
But worryingly, Valeria says she gets FAN MAIL from girls desperate to copy her skeletal look. The 39-year-old says:

“I have received emails from young girls who want me to teach them how to be like me”. “All the letters I’ve had are from women, mainly in their twenties, who see me as some kind of inspiration”

“This is why I want to campaign against anorexia. I am not going to teach them how to die. It is not a game, it is not a joke, it is your life”.

Valeria, who developed her eating disorder as a teenager, has chosen to speak out about how the illness has ruined her life — and how she is desperate to win her battle in order to have a family.

“I want to share my story to help sufferers and their families from repeating my fate”, says Valeria, who is originally from Russia but now lives in Monaco. “I want young people to live happy, healthy and meaningful lives. Anorexia has made me lonely, unattractive and repulsive for the people around me.”

5ft 8in, Valeria’s weight should be between 9st and 12st, according to NHS advice. Instead she is a horrifying 4st 3lbs, less than HALF of what her lightest healthy weight should be.

At 16, and weighing 10st, Valeria moved to Chicago, USA, with her mum and stepdad. The move brought even more pressure to be slim.

    She said:

“The environment was very different. I wanted to be liked everyone and I thought that if I lost weight, I would be accepted”.

“I started cutting out certain foods from my diet — I wouldn’t eat sugar or carbohydrates”. “I became trapped in a vicious circle where I needed to lose more weight to feel happy with myself”.

“Now it’s almost impossible to put the weight I’ve lost back on because my body can’t process many foods”.

When a classmate made a cruel comment about Valeria’s figure, she became even more determined to lose weight.

She explains: “We were playing football and during the game a man said, ‘I know how we can win. We need to put Valeria’s big ar*e in the goal’. It shattered my whole world”.

By the time she was 23, Valeria’s dress size had plummeted from a healthy size 12 to a tiny size six. And attempts at getting into modelling only made matters worse — because she was told she was STILL too fat.

Valeria’s passion was ballet and she dreamed of becoming a dancer. But at 24, and weighing just 6st, she was banned from dancing over concerns she would injure herself.

For the next ten years she saw more than 30 health specialists, though once dipped to a dangerously low 3st 10lbs.

    She says now:

“This disease is not about being cured by a doctor”. “It’s a deeper problem than that; it’s a lack of harmony between body and soul. I never gained any weight seeing specialists. I have never been hospitalised.

“The best cure I ever found was when I said to myself, ‘I’m going to recover”.

“I was feeling better and when you feel better your body starts to come back to normal. When you become healthier your body will start eating, not vice versa.

“You don’t force yourself to eat then become better, it’s not like that”.

Today she takes supplements to counter the risk of bruising and avoids situations where she could fall.

Now Valeria believes the solution could lie in moving back to Moscow. There is one incentive to get well again — having a baby via a surrogate. It is something she feels she can do if she can get herself healthy. “I think moving back to Moscow would help me once again feel at ease with myself”, she says.

“I would love to have a family because I feel I have so much to give”. “But obviously it wouldn’t be right to have a baby when I am ill. It wouldn’t be fair on the child”.

“I want to stand up to anorexia. I’ve never given up on anything in my life and I’m not about to give up now”. “I must win, in order to feel that my life hasn’t been wasted”.
